Be positive, Ceylon Chamber tells private sector

17 Sep 2019

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Chairman and telecom industry leader Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya has called for an end to negativity and despondency in the private sector. “Our first obligation as a private sector is to be positive and I think we need to cancel from our vocabulary the sentiment of despondency. There is no room for negative attitudes and complaining and as the private sector we must simply be positive and look forward to the future as we do with our businesses.” He made these remarks addressing the opening session of Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2019 which commenced earlier today at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel Colombo. Wijayasuriya also stressed that business and government must work hand in hand towards the common goal of economic growth. “The power of collectivism should come to the fore. It is not the private sector and the government or the private sector versus the government. It is the private sector with the government. It is the mobilization of this nexus that will enable the cycle of growth to pick up momentum and move forward,” he said. Wijayasuriya is the Corporate Executive Vice President and Regional Chief Executive of Axiata Group Berhad and was instrumental in establishing Dialog Axiata as Sri Lanka’s largest mobile telecommunication company.
