CSE continued to see local investor participation

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) continued its winning streak despite the dip on Monday and ended the week with over 50 points higher, predominantly driven by local investor participation. Moreover, active foreign interest was evident on Ceylinco Insurance (non-voting) while local investor appetite centred on Lanka Hospitals, Melstacorp, and Access Engineering. Meanwhile, the average weekly turnover stood at Rs. 424.5 million ($ 2,420.6k) whilst the average weekly volume stood at $ 86,753.0k shares. Furthermore, foreigners were net sellers for the week recording a net outflow of Rs. 363.3 million ($ 2,071.5k). Additionally, ASPI gained 54.1 points WoW to end the week at 5,569.9 (+1.0% WoW) while the S&P SL20 Index too rose by 32.8 points WoW to close at 2,627.2 (+1.3% WoW). Meanwhile, Expolanka, Panasian Power, and Teejay Lanka reached their 52-week high price levels this week while Nestle Lanka and Hatton National Bank (non-voting) slumped to their respective 52-week low price levels. In addition, Lanka IOC was amongst the actively traded counters during the week. Softlogic Stockbrokers said it expects the broader market to continue on a similar note in the holiday-shortened week.
