Market closes low due to lacklustre demand

The Colombo Stock Exchange decreased by 20.2 points to close at 5,363.5 (-0.1% WoW), while more liquid S&P SL20 also declined 23.7 points and reached 2,489.0 (-0.2% WoW). Moreover, active foreign interest was evident on John Keells Holdings while local investor appetite centred on Printcare and SDB Bank. Meanwhile, the average weekly turnover stood at Rs. 890.7 million ($ 5,042.4 k) whilst average weekly volume stood at 46,161.4.1 k shares. Furthermore, foreigners were net sellers for the week recording a net outflow of Rs. 21.3 million ($ 120.5 k). Meanwhile, Expolanka, Panasian Power, and Blue Diamonds reached their 52-week high price levels this week while Nestle Lanka, Hemas Holdings, Softlogic Holdings, and Ceylinco Insurance (Non-Voting) slumped to their respective 52-week low price levels. In addition, Lanka IOC was amongst the actively traded counters during the week. Softlogic Stockbrokers said that the market is expected to continue on the same note until a clear direction is provided through a political revelation.
