CEB says ‘Care’ app receiving positive feedback

In its first month of operation, the Ceylon Electricity Board’s (CEB) new “CEB Care” mobile app received “extremely positive” feedback from customers, the CEB announced.

The initiative aimed to ensure consumers have ready access to electricity billing and consumption information has received reviews such as “impressive and very useful”, “great initiative”, “a good concept”, “useful information”, etc. from users via the app.

The CEB Care app provides over 6.5 million CEB consumers ready access to information on electricity-related matters including the ability to lodge complaints and ranging from information on simple power outages to road accidents and the ability to be prepared with possible outages via an “Interruption Calendar”.

The launch of the CEB Care mobile app was held under the patronage of Minister of Power, Energy, and Business Development Ravi Karunanayake on 17 June 2019 at the BMICH.

The soft launch of this mobile application was in line with the CEB’s 50th Anniversary. Ministry of Power, Energy, and Business Development Secretary Dr. Suren Batagoda, CEB Chairman Rakitha Jayawardena, Acting General Manager D.D.K. Karunaratne, and several other CEB officials were present at the launch.

“We are proud to have launched this world-class app developed by our own engineers. In our aim to enrich life through power, the launch of the app is an important milestone in our journey towards providing consumers a superior service, providing more awareness and transparency,” noted Jayawardena at the event.

Consumers can access billing information together with a bill calculator to be able to monitor their usage on the app. The app offers the feature to make online bill payments. Consumers can conveniently complete their bill payments online in a few clicks through a payment gateway.

Through a simple registration process which requests the user’s name, email address, and NIC number, consumers can set up an account with ease. Multiple accounts can also be set up and managed under a single user profile.

The app is available on the App Store for iOS devices and Google Play Store for Android users. Alternatively, it can be downloaded via the CEB website, www.ceb.lk.
