Dialog Axiata PLC was recently announced the exclusive technological partner for the launch of the Touch Parking Card launched by Tenaga Car Parks (Pvt.) Ltd. in a public private partnership with the Colombo Municipal Council. The Touch Parking Card provides near-field communication (NFC) technology as a payment solution for issuing parking tickets. Further, the service will allow patrons to make payments more securely via eZ Cash and add to bill facilities, ensuring increased convenience and an easily accessible cashless payment mechanism.
The launch of the Touch Parking Card follows the deployment of street parking meters and point of sales (POS) devices in Colombo by Tenaga Car Parks (Pvt.) Ltd., in line with the directive by the Colombo Municipal Council. As part of phase one of the project, services will be available from Galle Face to Wellawatta along Galle Road and Duplication Road. Customers using this touch card will thus be able to use the stored value in the card for paying parking tickets or may extend hours by dialling #444# from your Dialog mobile or eZ Cash app, Sri Lanka’s first and largest mobile money and payment service.
Services are also expected to extend to Genie, the country’s first and only PCI-DSS-certified payment app, as part of phase two of the project. Moreover, this initiative allows parking service providers the option of maintaining records of vehicles and tickets.
Sharing his thoughts, Dialog Axiata PLC Chief Digital Services Officer Dr. Nushad Perera said: “As one of the key drivers of Sri Lanka’s digital transformation, we are proud to be the technological partner for this initiative that aims to implement a cashless, efficient, and convenient parking system. This solution aims to provide Sri Lankans with an accessible, secure, and digitised parking payment solution and we are proud to partner with Tenaga Car Parks to ensure its success.”
Commenting on the project, Tenaga Car Parks (Pvt.) Ltd. Managing Director Duminda Jayathilake said: “Being the foremost company in parking solutions and traffic management in Sri Lanka, we have always strived to bring cutting-edge innovations and solutions to the parking industry space. We are extremely proud to have Dialog Axiata, a key player in digital transformation in Sri Lanka, as our technology partner. The Touch Parking Card can be purchased at Rs. 200 and topped up at any Dialog Customer Care point or Touch retailer point with Sri Lankan enforcement officers issuing parking cards in the Colombo area.
