Bogus ‘doctors’ arrested for treating Covid-19 patients

Following a complaint lodged by the MOH of Kesbewa, two individuals have been arrested for illegally treating Covid-19 positive patients and those under quarantine in the Kesbewa area.   According to Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana, the suspects had carried out this operation by way of a Facebook page. He also stated that a van has also been taken into custody along with the suspects. DIG Rohana added that the Facebook page was used to receive information about Covid-19 positive patients and those under quarantine. Through this information, the suspects had visited the patients for treatment. It is said that the suspects have charged unsuspecting patients a fee of Rs. 12,500 for treatment.
