CCTV footage of a brawl involving the Chairman and Opposition members of the Horowpathana Pradeshiya Sabha in the Anuradhapura District was issued to the media today (01).
The brawl is said to have broken out during a monthly meeting which took place yesterday (31)
Charuka Udayanga Wijeratne, the Chairman of the UNP-led Horowpathana Pradeshiya Sabha, claims that he sustained injuries after being assaulted by three members of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).
Following this, the Chairman was admitted to the Horowpathana hospital before a transfer to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital took place.
He claims that the Opposition members inflicted physical attacks on him when views on five important subjects including the Covid-19 situation in the area were discussed.
The Chairman has subsequently filed complaints with the relevant authorities in this regard.
