The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) to be further strengthened to ensure stronger and effective action against acts of bribery or corruption, according to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The Prime Minister noted that examples of laws against bribery and corruption in countries like Sweden and Hong Kong could be taken into account when amending the local laws on bribery and corruption.
He added that parliament could decide on the amendments to be introduced and the mechanism to be applied.
