Join them for a night to remember

28 Jan 2019

By Rovina Vandersay After an extremely successful event on 2 December, where over 600 children with Down syndrome and Autism together with 200-plus volunteers participated in a day filled with fun activities, One Stage for All has something new up their sleeve planned for 3 February – a concert where famous Sri Lankan artists and bands perform together with children with Down syndrome and Autism. We spoke to One Stage for All Assistant Treasurer and Head of Volunteers Oluni Anthony, and she said: “Normally, concerts where such children perform are labelled for their performers diagnosed with Autism or Down syndrome. But we wanted to do something different and have one stage where local artists and children affected by these conditions perform together, with no bias, no difference – literally on ‘One Stage for All’. “Most of the artists performing on the date cancelled their plans to be there and perform at this show. More than a common concert or show, we want this event to be a wake-up call to humanity about just how talented and capable these children can be!” This event will be the second of a series of events organised by Events by Tara planned to raise awareness on Down syndrome and Autism, and also raise funds to build a central facility in Colombo for children affected by the conditions, where a proper registry can be maintained, along with a hostel and facilities to help with their treatment and medication. Bring your friends and family along and join One Stage for All on 3 February, from 6 p.m. onwards at Nelum Pokuna and watch these special children perform along with stars like Randhir Witana, Chitral Somapala, Ridma Weerawardena, Dhanith Sri, Kanchana Anuradhi, Methun SK, Mihindu Ariyaratne, Dinesh Gamage, Supun Perera, and bands like Voice.Print, Infinity, and Double Black.
