NYE Glam by @rochellewick
2018 is coming to an end, and celebrations are in order. With 2019 looming in here’s some elegant makeup looks courtesy @rochellewick for you to try this New Year’s Eve!
Look 1 – Smokey winged liner + nude glossy lip
This look is ideal if you don’t want to go for a darker lip, but still want a nice sultry look for NYE that’s not too dramatic. A smoked out winged liner is very easy to achieve; all you need is a regular eyeliner pencil and/or a black eye-shadow. Draw out a basic winged liner and smoke it out with a small pencil brush. Repeat same for the lower lash line.
I paired this with a nude lipstick and a lip-gloss. Since it is NYE, you can go all out and add a pair of false lashes and lots of highlighter! This entire look was created using products from Motives Cosmetics.”
TIP: Use some sticky tape to create a perfectly sharp winged liner. Remove it once you’re done smoking out the liner and you’ll have the perfect smokey winged liner.
Look 2 – “Glowing Goddess”
This look is focused more on brows, lips and blush. The eye makeup is very simple, just a basic medium brown smokey eye paired with thick lashes (totally optional). Thick brows were created using Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow, which will last all night long.
Bright warm Blushers are totally IN at the moment. I used Hot & Bothered from Kylie Cosmetics. Don’t be afraid to go for bright colourful blush tones, they definitely complement our Sri Lankan skin tones. I also used Banana Split highlighter from Kylie Cosmetics which is a beautiful gold shade, again a colour that truly complements our skin.
As for lips, I went for a matte brown nude shade from the brand Lady Burgundy.
TIP: Make sure you prep + set your face well if you want your makeup to stay put all night long. Hydrate your face with a face mask and/or an oil free moisturiser followed by a primer. You can also use a setting spray. (If you don’t have a setting spray in hand, you can use some hairspray. It works great – only for emergencies!)
Look 3 – Classic NYE glitter smokey eye
This is look screams NYE! It’s a basic black smokey eye topped off with some silver glitter, paired with a nude matte lip.
If you’re daring, you could opt for a red lip; BOLD!
TIP: Always use a black cream eye-shadow, a black eyeliner pencil or a black gel liner as a base for your smokey eye. Blend this upwards using a pencil brush and then apply the powder eye shadow. This creates an intense smokey eye.
Look 4 – Classic red lip!
This look features a simple brown smokey eye paired with a bright cool toned red lip. You can never go wrong with a red lip! This is one of my favourite combo’s and it was created using Makeup Geek Cosmetics plush lip in Beauty Queen + Creme Satin in Flamenco.
TIP: If you decide to wear a red lip or any dark lipstick, be sure to conceal around the lips using a small brush. This creates a nice defined lip.
