The festival offered choices of beverages and a collection of local flavours to accompany your favourite brew. The event proved to be an interesting concept coinciding with March madness and overflowing with the sporting spirit on account of all of the big matches around the island. The event spanned three days, overlapping the most famous Big Match of them all – the Royal-Thomian. Who was going to pass up a themed festival of this nature? True to expectation, there were several big match-goers nursing cold beverages scattered along the poolside of the fourth floor of Platinum One Suites. [gallery columns="2" link="file" size="full" ids="25689"] While the big match-goers weren’t all too enthusiastic about sharing their thoughts, we spoke to Tiya Samaranayake, an early bird at the event, who was there with her friend. A cocktail enthusiast, Tiya spoke of how events like Colombo BrewFest were essential to Colombo’s thriving food and beverage industry. She said: “We heard about the festival through Facebook. The location is amazing and the night is lovely!” adding: “I love that they organise events like this in Colombo as it’s great to experience new things, and people are given more options and opportunities.” [gallery columns="2" link="file" size="full" ids="25692"] The event provided entrance free; however, the option was available if you wished to reserve a table. The real draw of the night however was the location – the rooftop was absolutely beautiful. Situated in the midst of Colombo 3, the building is right opposite the famous Marino Mall. One thing you may not have noticed is that Marino Mall has a colossal LED tile spread way up on the building facing Galle Road. The LED screens with its transitioning images provided a mesmerising background to those lucky enough to be on the Platinum One Suites rooftop at night. It is truly a sight to behold – everyone must absolutely experience this view. Simply perfect! Bask in the chill of the night air and the poolside cold breeze, all set to the gorgeous lightshow flawlessly complementing Colombo’s night sky.
