Known as the_nomad_cherie, Nishelle De Silva’s Instagram handle has been gaining followers like a wild fire in a forest. Studying for her commercial pilot license, she’s already got her private pilot license which she uses to fly private single engine aircrafts. While pursuing her dreams of a career flying planes, Nishelle is currently working with Sri Lankan Airlines as part of the cabin crew, and has discovered that her passion lies in travelling. Ever since I met him, I joined him on his travels and I genuinely loved the entire experience and his love for travelling rubbed off on me. He usually travels more within Sri Lanka itself, while I travel more abroad, so he suggested that I should open up an Instagram account like him. I loved the idea and everyone else did too, so that’s how I became ‘the nomad’s cherie’ to my Lankan Nomad. [gallery link="file" columns="2" size="full" ids="18375"] What is your style of travelling? I prefer visiting famous, popular destinations and landmarks and I love to take a picture of myself in front of that location. I am setting a personal record for myself, to take as much pictures of myself in front of famous destinations, like ex. The Eiffel tower, Great Wall of China, etc. and I want to visit as many famous destinations and historical locations as possible. I have already covered around 20+ countries and 25 destinations and look forward to so much more. [gallery columns="2" link="file" size="full" ids="18370"] What is the best trip and worst trip you ever went on? I’ve never actually had a bad experience. Yet. Every country is different and every place has something amazing. For example, I loved Rome because it was like a walk into a different time in history, while Paris was like a dream come true – just magical. For me, just seeing all these amazing places that we might have only seen in pictures is like something ethereal. [gallery columns="2" link="file" size="full" ids="18374"] Where to, next? For me, I am waiting to go camping in Diyaluma. I haven’t travelled much in Sri Lanka and after listening to my boyfriend, who has done quite a few camping trips, I can’t wait to try that out and I am hoping to do so soon. [gallery columns="2" link="file" size="full" ids="18369"] Must dos in Sri Lanka? I don’t get much free time, but whenever I do, I always try to visit a beach in Sri Lanka and there is nothing more relaxing than spending an evening walking by a beach, chilling while the sun sets. For someone who hasn’t been in Sri Lanka before, I would also recommend a visit to Ella and the rest of the hill country. [gallery columns="2" link="file" size="full" ids="18373"] Any advice for other young travellers like you? I am no professional and it’s only after I met Lankan Nomad that I started travelling and trying out different experiences. But by travelling, I found out that I have been living inside a box and travelling has really opened my mind and shown me just how much our world has to offer. You would never know until you try it and most people think that ‘Oh god, it’s a trouble, have to plan, have to spend, don’t know what will happen’ but the moment you do it, and experience a different culture, see how different people spend their time and see the beautiful sights and man-made wonders, you will really be enlightened. So try it! It’s really amazing as we all say it is..  IG @the_nomad_cherie
