HelpAge Sri Lanka (HASL) released over 500,000 greeting cards this year. The proceeds are utilised to perform completely free cataract surgeries for underprivileged senior citizens living in all parts of the country.
Anybody who wishes to send birthday greeting cards to friends, parents, grandparents, sons, daughters, in-laws, brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, and teachers could now purchase HelpAge cards and support to this worthy cause.
HelpAge has also issued many varieties of other cards including for new born babies, get-well-soon cards, sympathy cards, world’s Mother’s and Father’s Day cards, wedding anniversary cards, 21st birthday cards, thank you cards, etc.
The greeting cards are adorned with colourful graphic designs, floral designs, butterflies, cartoons, musical instruments, and various other acrylic designs.
HASL Manager Fundraising Ruchilalani Batuwantudawa said the cards are printed on high-quality boards and are sold at very affordable prices. She said the cards could also be personalised free of charge with the company name and logo in black for a minimum order of 200.
HASL Executive Director Samantha Liyanawaduge said the state-of-the-art free cataract surgeries are performed by senior eye surgeons at the HelpAge Eye Hospital, Wellawatta (opposite Savoy Cinema), and to date, the Eye Hospital has performed over 35,000 free surgeries.
He further said that in addition to free cataract surgeries, HelpAge also provides needy senior citizens with free disability equipment such as wheelchairs, crutches, hearing aids, spectacles, etc.
The non-seasonal greeting cards are available at all leading bookshops and supercentres including Keells, Cargills, Laughfs, and Arpico and can also be purchased from the HASL head office at Raththanapitiya, Boralesgamuwa.
