‘Klick and Win’ in support of children
Commemorating its 65th anniversary, the “Klick and Win” photo contest, organised by the Sri Lanka Malay Association Rupee Fund (SLMARF), came to an end on 21 November at the association premises.
The contest was open for a period of one month, and 60 entries were selected to be judged by the qualified team of professional photographers.
National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) Deputy Chairperson Sujatha Kulatunga was the Chief Guest for the event and was greeted by preschool students of the association-funded preschool. Joining her at the head table were SLMARF President A.R. Pallie and Project Chairman Iqram Cuttilam.
Ten final contestants out of the initial 60 were shortlisted, out of whom the winners of the contest under three categories, winner and runners-up of the open category, and winners of the first entry and exclusive categories were chosen.
Project Chairman Cuttilam welcomed the audience to the ceremony and shared his excitement over receiving many entries to serve the cause on behalf of the association. Briefly sharing information on the project with the invitees, he concluded by congratulating all participants and winners of the photo contest.
Addressing the audience, NCPA Deputy Chairperson Sujatha Kulatunga, first expressing her gratitude for being invited to the event, said: “Working in the National Child Protection Authority is not an easy task. At the end of the day, it’s very sad to imagine how parents abandon their children for whatever reasons. According to our database, we have discovered numerous cases related to child abandonment and many other issues, but this can be changed if everyone works together. This is a very valuable cause – helping children and the society. I thank the Sri Lanka Malay Association for making such efforts to build the lives of children and encourage them to achieve greater things in life.”
The winners of the event were announced and awarded, followed by granting a special token of thanks to the panel of professional photographers.
The Klick and Win contest award ceremony came to an end with a vote of thanks by Association President Pallie. Expressing gratitude to all those who helped the cause in numerous way, he thanked the anonymous sponsor who generously donated to this cause.
