The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal to purchase 150,000 metric tons of fertilizer do be used for the upcoming Yala Season, Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Bandula Gunawardana said today.
Gunawardana was speaking during the cabinet press briefing today.
He added that Rs. 10 billion has been allocated for this purpose.
Accordingly, the fertilizer will be used to cultivate 523,000 hectares of land.
Gunawardana further noted that the cabinet had approved the provision of seeds, fertilizer and other financial allotments for cultivating lands in Yala Season.
The Minister further said a decision was taken to distribute urea, phosphate and potash fertilizers to the farmers commencing from May 20.
