The Cabinet has allocated a sum of Rs. 8 b to the Election Commission for expenses related to the forthcoming general elections.
Co-cabinet Spokesperson Bandula Gunawardana made these comments during a press conference held in Colombo today.
During a discussion with SAARC member countries on 15th March, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa announced that General Elections will be held as planned on the 25th of April 2020. Acceptance of nominations from recognized political parties for the upcoming general election will conclude at 12 noon today.
