A Cabinet decision is reported to have taken place last week which seeks to form an entity attached to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) with the purpose of producing liquid gas.
Out of the nation’s total consumption of liquid gas, CPC supplies 5% of the demand which is distributed to Litro Gas Lanka and Laugfs Gas PLC.
It was also noted that preliminary measures have been initiated for the construction of a new oil refinery in Sapugaskanda which will produce nearly 20% of Sri Lanka’s gas requirement.
