Cabinet must answer to Nagananda’s LP gas allegations: Dayasiri

21 Jun 2022

Nagananda Kodituwakku has alleged that all 225 Members of Parliament have made commissions through a new LP gas deal where a ton of Gas is brought down for USD129, whereas it was previously brought down for USD 95, and the profits are being shared by parliamentarians, whereas it is the cabinet ministers who made these decisions and we are not involved, says Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekera.  He made this statement while speaking in Parliament today (21). "It is the cabinet ministers who made this decision to resolve the LP gas shortage in the country, but we get the blame. All parliamentarians are blamed for things we don't even know. The cabinet ministers must have made profits and they should be liable to respond to such allegations. We have not made deals and we have not made profits. The citizens of the country are blaming all 225 parliamentarians, which is unfair," said Jayasekera.  He further noted that until the Government informs the citizens of the country of a plan on how the economic situation will be resolved, Parliamentary sittings must not be held and the country must look for solutions and not just discussions in parliament.
