The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the immediate purchase of 240,000 metric tons of coal for the Lakvijaya Coal Power Plant in Norochchole.
A Singaporean company has won the tender to supply coal to the Lakvijaya Power Plant as per the recommendation of the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee.
Accordingly, the Government will purchase the above quantity at $ 67.39 per metric ton.
The respective proposal was submitted by the Minister of Power, Energy & Business Development Ravi Karunanayake.
