CaFFE urges polls body to provide postal voting facility to private sector

12 Feb 2020

Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE) has urged the Elections Commission(EC) to provide the postal voting facility to private sector employees. CaFFE has highlighted that people’s interest in voting at general, provincial and local council elections is less, compared to Presidential Election. The elections monitoring body has also pointed out that the private sector leave mechanism is not an attractive proposition to those who have to travel long distances. Considering these factors, CaFFE  has called for the expansion of the postal voting system to employees to  in private hospitals, security firms, hotels and the garment industry. Given that a general and provincial council election is to be held this year, CaFFE has urged the polls body to consider their request.
