Minister of Trade Bandula Gunawardena said that the salaries could not be increased immediately as requested by the teachers' unions.
The trade union action taken by the Teachers' and Principals' Trade Unions based on several demands including salary anomalies is still being implemented.
Accordingly, it has been 10 days since they halted online teaching.
Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers Union Joseph Stalin told a media briefing this morning (21) that he would continue his trade union action until the relevant demands were met.
