Case against Tissa to be withdrawn

25 Mar 2019

A case filed against former General Secretary of the United National Party, Tissa Attanayake who was accused of forging documents in the 2015 Presidential election has been withdrawn. Attanayake had claimed to be in the possession of documents which displayed the signatures of President Maithripala Sirirsena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe of a secret agreement with Tamil National Alliance leader R. Sampanthan during 2015 Presidential elections. These allegations, however, have been denied by President Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe.
