The Catholic church in Sri Lanka has raised concerns over the political crisis in the country. The Catholic Bishops' conference said that if there is instability in the country it is the people who will suffer. The church urged politicians to put aside their vested interest and abide by the Constitution. The Catholic Bishops' conference also requested all concerned to act with prudence and restraint for the sake of the country.
