CBSL Committee on financial institutions: Report to be submitted today

60 complaints received in 7 days By Skandha Gunasekara The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) Committee appointed to look into the irregularities at non-banking financial institutions is to submit its report today (1), The Morning learnt. Committee Member and CBSL Director – Legal and Compliance Sirikumara Kudagama said they had completed their survey. “We hope to submit the report by Wednesday (today). We completed the survey in a period of one week and have concluded our study of the issue,” he said. He said around 60 complaints had been received by the Committee. “By Monday (29) evening, we had received some 60-odd complaints. Most of these are of a personal nature but nevertheless have been helpful in carrying out the process of determining the issues in the non-banking financial sector.” CBSL Governor Prof. W.D. Lakshman appointed a three-member committee headed by the Director General of Legal Affairs at the Presidential Secretariat, Hariguptha Rohanadheera, to look into irregularities at finance and leasing companies. The other two members of the committee are Kudagama and CBSL Director – Supervision of Non-Bank Financial Institutions J.P. Gamlath.
