The Constitutional Council has approved President's nominees Dr. Rani Jayamaha & Samantha Kumarasinghe to be appointed to the Central Bank Monetary Board.
Last month, former Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) Chairman and veteran banker Nihal Fonseka and Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) Executive Director Dr. Dushni Weerakoon submitted their resignation from the Monetary Board.
The Constitutional Council met this evening at the Speaker’s Residence under the patronage of its Chairman and former Speaker of the Eighth Parliament Karu Jayasuriya.
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and other members of the Constitutional Council attended the meeting.
