CCC, CSE, BOI host webinar on SLIF 2021

26 May 2021

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC), along with the Board of Investment (BOI) and the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), conducted a virtual pre-event of the Sri Lanka Investment Forum 2021 (SLIF 2021) yesterday (25).  BOI Chairman Sanjaya Mohottala explained the importance of holding such an event, saying that SLIF 2021 aims to provide a platform for both investors and entrepreneurs, making both parties aware of policy changes and providing a holistic view on Sri Lanka’s investment opportunities. He also highlighted that all stakeholders would need to be aware of the strategy for doubling Gross Domestic Profit if the country is to achieve sustainable growth. CSE Chairman Dumith Fernando noted that the primary objective of SLIF is to circulate correct facts and figures about the Sri Lankan market without misinformation or dramatisation. “Being in a capital market standpoint, let the investors and entrepreneurs know the actual challenges and opportunities without being tricked,” he added. The BOI, CCC, and CSE have collectively organised this “first-of-its-kind virtual investment forum” to promote direct and portfolio investment opportunities in Sri Lanka. This is also anticipated to support the Government’s aim of attracting foreign investment inflows.  SLIF 2021 is scheduled to be held on three consecutive days, from 7-9 June 2021. The theme of the forum, “Invest Sri Lanka – Asia’s Next Growth Haven”, has been crafted on the backdrop of a post-Covid imperative of “Accelerated Economic Revival”.
