The Central Environmental Authority today (5) stated that as per the order of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the cultivation of Katupol is to be ceased while other cultivations are to be conducted in lands where Katupol was previously cultivated.
They stated that they expect to cease the cultivation of Katupol completely in a period of five years, while dedicating 20% of the land to rubber cultivation. The Central Environmental Authority also stated that this decision was taken due to harmful effects generated by Katupol cultivation.
