CEB and CPC to resolve fund shortages, source of funds irrelevant: Amunugama

10 Jan 2022

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) and the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) will resolve the issues they are facing because of a fund shortage and it is irrelevant where the funds come from, says State Minister Dilum Amunugama. He made this statement while speaking to the media today (10). "I believe the CEB and the CPC will resolve the issues they are facing soon, the main issue is the lack of funds. Both are state institutions and therefore, it is not relevant how the funds are provided. Both the subject Ministers have intervened in this matter and they will resolve it. There are issues with the importation of fuel as well, and the main problem is the lack of funds. There is no need to hide this from the people, and we are managing this situation," said Amunugama. He further stated that the Ministry of Finance has formulated a plan to recover from the economic crisis the country is facing by April 2022.
