‘CEB Care’ App Receives Positive Feedback

In its first month of operation, the Ceylon Electricity Board’s (CEB) new ‘CEB Care’ mobile app has received “extremely positive” feedback from customers, CEB announced today.

The initiative aimed to ensure consumers have ready access to electricity billing and consumption information has received reviews such as ‘impressive and very useful’, ‘great initiative’, ‘a good concept’, ‘useful information’ etc. from users via the app.

The ‘CEB Care’ App provides over 6.5 million CEB consumers ready access to information on electricity-related matters including ability to lodge complaints ranging from simple power outages to road accidents and the ability to be prepared with possible outages via an Interruption Calendar.

The launch of the CEB Care mobile app was held under the patronage of Minister of Power, Energy and Business Development Ravi Karunanayake on 17th June 2019 at the BMICH.

The soft launch of this mobile application was in-line with the Ceylon Electricity Board’s 50th Anniversary.  Dr. Suren Batagoda, Secretary, Ministry of Power, Energy and Business Development, Rakitha Jayawardena, Chairman, CEB and D D K Karunaratne, Actg. General Manager and several other CEB officials were present at the launch.

“We are proud to have launched this world-class app, developed by our own engineers. In our aim to enrich life through power, the launch of the app is an important milestone in our journey towards providing consumers a superior service, providing more awareness and transparency,” noted Rakhita Jayawardena, Chairman, CEB at the event.

Consumers can access Billing information together with a Bill Calculator to be able to monitor their usage on the app.  Online Bill Payment is another feature available through the app. Using a payment gateway consumers can conveniently complete their bill payments online in a few clicks.

Through a simple registration process which requests user’s name, email address and NIC number, consumers can with ease set up an account. Multiple accounts can also be setup and managed under a single user profile.

The app is available on the App Store for iOS devices and Google Play Store for Android users. Alternatively it can be downloaded via the CEB website,
