The Chief Prelates have requested the Buddhist community in Sri Lanka to take necessary steps to stay home and act in accordance with the Dharma as much as possible during the Vesak Poya day which falls tomorrow (26).
The Chief Prelates point out that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it has become impossible to celebrate Vesak this year as well as last year.
The Most Venerable Wedaruwe Upali Thero, Deputy Leader of the Asgiriya Chapter said, "This time too, we will all strive to enlighten lives by instilling devotion in the hearts and sacrificing principles."
The Most Venerable Dimbulkumbure Wimaladhamma Thero, Deputy Leader of the Malwathu Chapter stated, "Due to the Covid pandemic we are not able to perform the Amisa Pooja and the Prathipaththi Pooja properly. But we have the ability to celebrate the festival at home and spend that precious time at home."
