A kinetic skills program by the Department of Sports Development was conducted on the occasion of the World Children’s Day which falls tomorrow. The program began this morning at the Torrington Grounds in Colombo with the participation of 500 children representing 11 schools in the Colombo District.
“Folk sports are a part of our culture and special efforts should be made to bring sports closer to the children in the future,” Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Namal Rajapaksa stated at the occasion.
He further stated that this program was implemented with the aim of innovating and popularizing sports and directing children to sports in accordance with a concept of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
