Following the Cabinet approval which was granted on September 13, 2021 for the implementation of the project to construct two eco-friendly bio-organic fertilizer factories in the Pelwatte and Sevanagala units of Lanka Sugar Company (Pvt) Ltd, a Chinese company is expected to supply the machinery required.
The Government notes that the necessary machinery and equipment should be procured from a foreign manufacturer as such organic fertilizer factories have not been functioning in Sri Lanka.
Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by the minister of Plantations to procure the said machinery from the identified Chinese company Dongting Lake International following the direct procurement methodology.
