Chinese envoy attends inauguration of Hope Village Project in Lunugamvehera

On May 27th, the Hope Village Project at Kendagasmankada, Lunugamvehera was inaugurated with the presence of China’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Qi Zhenhong. Comprising new health, community, agriculture centres and playgrounds, the project is expected to create 720 local jobs. Hambantota International Port Group (HIPG) and China Merchants Foundation funded the project with USD 200,000. The Chinese embassy in Colombo notes that Ambassador Qi Zhenhong and Madam Jin Qian donated a batch of computers to set up the Information Technology Education Centre of the Kendagasmankada village, and gifted panda dolls and school bags to the kids in the village. The couple also paid a home visit to local villagers during their stay at the Kendagasmankada village. They encouraged the villagers under current difficulties and assured China's continued support to Sri Lankan people.
