Chinese passengers are not quarantined : JVP

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) today claimed that close to 181 Chinese tourists had entered the country without having been subject to quarantine procedures. JVP Propaganda Secretary Vijitha Herath addressing a media briefing today said that  on 7th of  March flights had arrived from China carrying 79 Chinese passengers while on 10th of March flights  transiting through HK/Bangkok had carried close to 101 passengers. He added the government has not taken measures to quarantine passengers from China, where the coronavirus originated. "Why is the government only quarantining passengers from South Korea, Iran and Italy," Herath questioned. However, at a press conference today(11) Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said that Chinese passengers were not subject to quarantine procedures in Sri Lanka as the number of cases had reduced to 40 per day in China.
