CID at former PM’s residence to record statement on bond scam

A team of CID officials arrived at the residence of the  former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to record a statement on CBSL bond scam.

On the 18th of June, Attorney General Dappula De Livera instructed the Acting Inspector General of Police to obtain statements from four people including the former President Maithripala Sirisena and Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, former Advisor to the Prime Minister M. S. Paskaralingam and the former General Manager of People’s Bank with regard to the Central Bank Treasury Bond Scam.

Wickremesinghe functioned as Minister of Policy Planning and Economic Affairs from January 2015 onward and had the CBSL under his purview during the period the bond scam took place.

Former Governor of CBSL Arjun Mahendran, former Fiance Minister Ravi Karunanayake and eight others face charges of criminal misappropriation, market manipulation, cheating, and insider dealing in relation to two bond auctions held in February 2015 and March 2016.
