CID launches probe into Rajitha’s media briefing

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has launched a probe into a media conference conducted by former Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne on 10 November.

Senaratne along with two individuals has allegedly made controversial statements and allegations regarding abductions, assassinations, robberies and forced disappearances in the past.

According to the CID, investigations were launched after a complaint was lodged by an individual named Kumudu Pradeep Sanjeewa Perera.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has informed the the Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne on the probe.

Considering a request made by the CID, the Chief Magistrate has ordered several media outlets to submit the unedited video footage from the press conference.
