CID to act against 40 suspects

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which is currently investigating the Easter Sunday attacks, is preparing to file legal action against more than 40 suspects who were currently being held in their custody.

According to sources, the CID was still interrogating the suspects detained in connection with the Easter attacks and it was planning to complete the investigations soon and thereafter file legal action against them.

Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said last week that 102 suspects had been arrested by the Police over the Easter Sunday attacks.

He said that 77 suspects were in the custody of the CID while 25 suspects were in the custody of the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID).
