The Government has decided to provide several tax concessions to the cinema industry including tax concession on the income earned from movie screening, the Prime Minister's Office said today. It said these concessions were available during President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s tenure but they were later cancelled by the Yahapalana Government. Accordingly, the Secretaries of the Finance Ministry and the Cultural Affairs Ministry have made arrangements to provide these concessions following the instructions of the Prime Minister. Tax concessions will also be available to those who import filming equipment, the Prime Minister’s Office said.
