The much debated circular on the dress code for government officials will undergo favourable amendments, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said in a communiqué yesterday. Minister of Public Administration, Disaster Management, and Rural Economic Affairs Ranjith Madduma Bandara will oversee the required amendments to the circular, he further stated. As a result, the circular issued earlier making it compulsory for women to wear the saaree at state institutions will not be valid.
