Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara worst affected by showers

The most affected areas due to the weather conditions of the past few days were Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara, the Department of Meteorology told the Morning. The highest rainfall was reported from Udubaddawa, Kurunegala at 196.6 mm, followed by Hanwella at 176.5 mm, Morapitiya at 176.0 mm and Dehiowita at 168.0 mm. Today’s mildly cloudy weather has allowed for the drainage of yesterday’s rainfall and no area of the island is to be affected by floods. However, there is a risk of heavy rainfall between 50 to 100 mm tomorrow (8), which is expected to continue until Wednesday (9).
