Certain plots of land that fall under the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) have come under heavy debate the last few weeks, towards which end, Colombo Mayoress Rosy Senanayaka clarified certain details pertaining to lands that have and have not been registered.
“I am deeply saddened by the fact that some land has not been registered. I don’t know if it has happened knowingly or unknowingly. There are over 9,000 plots of land that have not been registered. The CMC cannot just take these unregistered lands into its possession, despite rumours that state it could,” said Senanayaka, speaking at a media briefing on Wednesday (29 September).
A rumour had been circulating that unregistered land in Colombo was going to be acquired by the CMC.
