Employees at the Jaya and Samagi Terminal of the Colombo Port commenced a work to rule campaign.
The campaign has been initiated due to the failure to offload three new gantry cranes from a ship docked at the Colombo Port.
Yesterday, 3 employees of the Colombo Port, climbed on top of the gantry cranes, demanding that the new cranes be installed at the Colombo East Terminal Port promptly.
The Chinese gantry cranes were ordered by the former government for the development of the ECT.
However, the decision to move the cranes to the ECT was suspended as an agreement inked by the former government with India posed an issue.
