30 Jan 2021

The Cabinet appointed negotiating committee would handover its report on the East Container Terminal (ECT) issue to the Ports and Shipping Minister tomorrow, Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) Chairman Daya Ratnayake said. Speaking at a news conference held today, he said he was optimistic about the report which would be finalised with the input of all stakeholders involved in the matter. He said the Minister will publicise the report and its content. “We are confident that the issue has been resolved. By Monday, the Minister will submit the Cabinet paper. No one wants to hand over the ECT to a foreign company. I can assure that the SLPA will continue to develop the ECT,” he said.
