Committee report on the Mahara Prison conflict to be presented in Parliament today

The report of the committee appointed to look into the Mahara prison conflict is due to be presented to Parliament today (09), stated the Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana. Meanwhile, it was decided yesterday (08) by the Wattala Magistrate Court to appoint a post mortem panel to look into the bodies of the 11 inmates who died in the recent incident at the Mahara Prison, which should include three senior forensic officers, a firearms expert, an officer from the Government Analyst's Department and a doctor from the Institute of Forensic Science. Further, State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne pointed out to the court that out of the bodies of the 11 inmates who died in the incident at the Mahara Prison which are currently being kept at the Ragama Hospital, 08 have been found to be infected with Covid.
