The aircraft carrying the first batch of 1.6 million doses of Sinopharm vaccine donated by China arrived in the island this morning (27).
In addition, another SriLankan Airlines flight carrying the second consignment is scheduled to arrive at the Katunayake Airport at 10.10 this morning.
This is the largest single dose of anti-Covid vaccine ever donated by the Chinese government.
Also, with this stock of vaccines, China has so far donated 2.7 million Sinopharm vaccines to Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, 437,878 people in the country were vaccinated yesterday (26), recording the highest number of people being vaccinated in a single day.
