Consignment of 50,000 doses of Sputnik V arrives

Another 50,000 doses of Sputnik V vaccines have been brought to the island today (07). 50,000 doses of the vaccine brought from the Russian Gamaleya Medical Plant were handed over to the Sri Lanka Pharmaceutical Corporation at the Bandaranaike International Airport. Meanwhile, it is reported that the Director General of Health Services has instructed to provide vaccinations to all teachers irrespective of age under the Covid-19 immunization program. Accordingly, the Director General of Health Services has issued a special circular directing the health sector to take necessary steps to provide the Covid vaccine to teachers from the 12th of this month. Meanwhile, the second dose of Pfizer vaccine will be given to people over the age of 55 who have taken the first dose of AstraZeneca in the Colombo city limits from today. Minister of State Prof. Channa Jayasumana stated that there is no need to be afraid to take the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
