Constitutional Council: New council to decide appointments

By Skandha Gunasekara The Constitutional Council (CC) yesterday (3) decided to leave the task of making appointments to independent commissions to the new constitutional council. “The Constitutional Council decided that it would be best for the incoming constitutional council to appoint members to vacant positions in the independent commissions,” CC sources told The Morning. The Council had also approved its quarterly report. “The quarterly report to be handed over to Parliament and the President was also approved by the Council yesterday,” sources said. The new council will be formed following the conclusion of the upcoming parliamentary election.
