The construction work of the third vehicle park of a series of 12 vehicle parks that are being constructed on the instructions of Minister of Urban Development and Housing, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, commenced today at Ibbanwala Junction, Union Place.
According to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's 'Vistas of Prosperity' policy framework, new vehicle parks will be constructed in Colombo and in major cities around the country to alleviate traffic congestion.
Out of the 12 proposed vehicle parks, construction work has commenced on two at Colombo Fort and Narahenpita and a third car park will be constructed at Ibbanwala Junction.
The facility at Ibbanwala Junction is to accommodate 310 vehicles at a time reducing traffic congestion in the area.
