A state vegetable corporation akin to the Ceylon Fisheries Corporation would be set up by a future government led by the current administration.
Government Spokesperson and former State Minister of Investment Promotion Keheliya Rambukwella told The Morning that it would be set up with a new Government.
“It’s a forward-thinking idea and I’m sure the President will take the necessary steps to set it up. It should happen as soon as our Government is in place after elections,” he said.
He said that it could come under a new Ministry of Food Security.
“It could come under the Ministry of Agriculture, or even a new ministry could be set up called the Ministry of Food Security which could house this new state corporation,” he said.
