The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is yet to unearth evidence to link UNP parliamentarian Ranjith Madduma Bandara to the recovery of counterfeit notes from one of his employees in Monaragala last week.
Speaking to The Sunday Morning, Police Media Spokesperson SP Jaliya Senaratne said the CID had arrested one person with counterfeit notes and taken him into custody with a computer and a
printing machine.
“The CID is currently questioning the arrested person,” he added.
However, SP Senaratne said there was no evidence to reveal links between Bandara and the incident.
The CID had launched the investigation last Thursday on a tip-off alleging that the place was printing counterfeit currency notes.
